Excellence Through Endeavour

Monitoring Progress

We aim to work closely with our Parents to ensure that every child achieves their very best, in a happy, caring, calm and purposeful learning environment.

We have a comprehensive transition programme, which includes staff visits to primary schools, induction meetings with our Year 6 students and their parents as well as a full induction day at the school in July and pre-season training session sessions.

The curriculum develops critical thinking skills and access to sophisticated subject material from day one. We map students actual progress against expected progress twice a year and share this with parents via our online portal, Progresso.

We set challenging progress targets for individual students, in all subjects. We use prior achievement in Key Stage 2, Fischer Family Trust estimates, baseline assessments in English, Maths and Science, CATs and reading test levels to set a ‘aspirational targets.

We also use external assessments in English and Maths to support us confidently monitor progress reliably year on year. Our internal and external moderation of assessment enables our teachers to highlight any gaps in knowledge and understanding, which assists them to personalise learning, from providing extra support to setting more challenging targets.
