Excellence Through Endeavour

Areas of excellence

New Technologies and Communication

All students have a personal device and an individual online account where they will find homework, resources that teachers have used in lessons, links to web resources and more. This enables students to access work in different formats including text, audio and video.

Our learning resource centre and library is open every day with extended access before and after the start and end of the school day. The resources centre provides a supervised independent study environment equipped with a range of IT facilities, book resources and quiet study areas.

Sport and Healthy Lifestyles

Our curriculum values the expressive arts and sport because we recognise that significant participation in these disciplines helps to shape students’ resilience, confidence and emotional intelligence.

As an inclusive school, all students are stretched and challenged to exceed their personal best. Our approaches ensure that all learning experiences support growth in our students' understanding of complex knowledge and concepts. Based on the National Curriculum we place a premium on academic rigour and strong learning outcomes.

The PE department encourages pupils to take part in competitive sports and activities outside school through community links, sports clubs or school teams.

Our curriculum values the expressive arts and sport because we recognise that significant participation in these disciplines helps to shape students’ resilience, confidence and emotional intelligence. We devote a significant amount of curriculum time to physical activity which is tailored to be accessible to all learners.

Harlequins and our Campus facilities will also provide pupils with access to world-class sports and fitness opportunities.

Enterprise

While our curriculum is in many ways very traditional, we aim to take an enterprising approach to its design, capitalising on innovative applications of digital technologies and Partnership agreements.

  • Enterprise plays a vital role in our curriculum. From year 7 onwards, students benefit from a programme of visiting lecturers, seminars and workshops.
  • The use of digital technologies is commonplace and students are equipped with the skills to operate confidently and efficiently in a connected world.
